WSD plans to have a special community recognition event night during the January 28th basketball game. Recognitions will be during halftimes, before the Varsity Boys Team (game starts at 7:30 PM) and before the Girl Varsity Game (game starts at 6:00 PM).
We plan to recognize Rio Hiria and Darryl Jensen for 30+ years as our WHS chain gang crew leader and scorekeeper. We will also be honoring the Warrior Image. WSD worked with the Wanapum, Yakima, our legislatures, and the legal team to remain the Warriors. This has been quite a process and has resulted in a renewed commitment by everyone involved to remain the Warriors. As part of this process and the incredible story of the Warrior image, we'd like to honor the Buck and Tapia families at this event.
