Happy Monday, WSD! We wanted to share these updates regarding offices: 🔸 WSD's HR and Payroll Departments have moved from the Mattawa Port Office to the District / Administration Office. 🔸 The Special Education Department moved to Portable 24 and 25 by the Migrant and Multicultural Department portable across the WSD tennis courts. __________________ ¡Feliz lunes, WSD! Congratulations, Ms. Elvia Greisen! Ms. Greisen was recognized for nearly 30 years of service to the Wahluke School District. She has had many roles in our district, such as school counselor, family engagement counselor, and coordinator for various programs. We are grateful and proud to have had Ms. Greisen take the lead in many roles throughout many years in our district and community. WSD offers our heartfelt congratulations to her in recognition of this service milestone. Her helping hand, positivity, and friendliness will surely be missed. But we know that we will see her around the community! Thank you for so many wonderful years of kindness and dedication to our students, community, and staff. Best wishes in your retirement. Hello! I hope you are all having a fantastic summer! Our counselors have been working hard on getting summer school up and running for those students who have failed one or more courses. All students who are required to participate should have received an email with their log in information. They are to begin working today. Students will be required to be in person at the high school on FRIDAYS from 3:00-5:00pm to check in with me, but must be working on their classes online every day. Today is an Early Release Day and the Last Day of School for the 22-23 school year. Our whole last week of the 2023-2024 school year was filled with a lot of fun activities across our campus, from spirit weeks, field trips, TK, Kinder, and 5th-grade graduations to Color Runs, Fire Truck - water day, to 5th grade House Sorting day we are happy to see our students and teachers making memories! The end of the school year is soon approaching! As a reminder, here are important dates to keep in mind: Monday, June 12th: Is a Regular School Start Day Tuesday, June 13th: Will be Early Release and the Last Day of School _________ Toda nuestra última semana del año escolar 2023-2024 estuvo llena de muchas actividades divertidas en todo nuestro campus, desde excursiones, graduaciones de TK, Kínder y 5.° grado hasta carreras de colores, camión de bomberos - día del agua, día de sorteo de casas de 5to grado, y mas estamos felices de ver a nuestros estudiantes y maestros creando recuerdos! ¡Y se acerca el final del año escolar! The Special Education Department and Garden Sustainability Team have dedicated an apple tree that WHS Student Daniel Cardoso and teacher Christine Lounsbury planted in the garden last year. Ms. Lounsbury shares the story about the dedication: "It started as a dead stick that looked like it should be put in the compost. Danny was willing to take a chance on it, and we planted it anyway. When it took off and started to become a full beautiful tree, Danny agreed that it was in his late father's honor and his dad was looking down from heaven, happy that Danny had the tree. Danny has lovingly cared for his tree every day ever since." WHS student Jose Lagunas created and built a plaque in Dad's honor ____________________ El Departamento de Educación Especial y el Equipo de Sostenibilidad del Jardín han dedicado un arbol de manza que el estudiante de WHS Daniel Cardoso y la maestra Christine Lounsbury plantaron en el jardín el año pasado. La Sra. Lounsbury comparte la historia sobre la dedicación: "Empezó como un palo que parecía que debía colocarse en el compost. Danny estaba dispuesto a correr el riesgo y lo plantamos de todos modos. Nicolas Puentes, 2019 graduate of Wahluke High School became one of only four CWU students to ever receive the NSF research award and had his heart set on physics research for a long time before he ever took his first class at CWU. Congratulations Nicolas! #Alwaysawarrior
